Known for being one of the largest resorts on the Iberian Peninsula, Termas de São Pedro do Sul use its water for different purposes, such as therapeutic thermalism and physiotherapy. Already used by the Romans for physical recovery, the resort has been modernized since 1152. 

Inaugurated in 2019 on the banks of the Tâmega River, this Thermal Resort is suitable for those with respiratory, rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases. The properties of these waters have been referenced since 1726 when the Aquilégio Medicinal by Francisco de Fonseca Henriques was released.

Located next to the Douro River, the waters of Termas das Caldas de Aregos are recognized for their therapeutic value. Here are treated problems such as diseases in the musculoskeletal system, respiratory tract and rheumatological.

Opened on December 20, 2008, in the former building of the “Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro", the Douro Museum is born of the need to preserve and study the material and immaterial objects typical of the identity, culture and development of this region.

Opened in a building built during the 30s of the 20th century, the Resende Museum opened its doors to the public in 2006. This space aims to promote the region's heritage, highlighting the ethnography, archeology and Douro River exhibitions.

Founded in 1947 in the cloister of the Convent of Saint Gonçalo, this Museum preserves the life and work of Amadeo de Souza Cardoso, as well as the works of other painters from Amarante, including António Carneiro and Acácio Lino.

Located near the Viseu city, the Linen Museum aims to preserve the tradition of linen and traditional farming, typical of the place where it is located. This museum is located in an old house, thus portraying the work and life routines of this village.

Located in a region where the extraction of quartz was one of the main economic activities for 25 years, this Museum emerges as an interactive center for exploring the geological and natural heritage of the region.

Located in the historic center of Viseu, the Museu Nacional de Grão Vasco was founded in 1916 to preserve and enhance the city's heritage and the works of Grão Vasco. The museum presents a vast collection of painting, sculpture, goldsmithery, furniture and other pieces from the Romanesque and Baroque eras.

Although there are no references to its origin, cavacas from Resende are, among the sweets, the best known cake in the region. This one can be found in any cafe, pastry shop or restaurant.

Known for their flavor, cherries from Resende are an important regional product and source of income for the county. It is in this sense that the Cherry Festival takes place between the end of May and July.

Often caught by the owners of the establishments, the river fish is an increasingly common dish in the Douro region. Accompanied by bean rice and salad, the fish can vary from barbell, pike, perch, carp, and eel.

Appreciated in several municipalities in the country, roasted lamb is one of the typical dishes of the Resende region. It is usually accompanied with rice and baked potato.

The Penedo de São João is a place of great attention in the parish of Freigil, in Resende. From this granite rock you can enjoy a panoramic view over the Douro and Aregos rivers. Besides the landscape, it is also possible to find traces of an ancient medieval castle (walls, ceramics, etc).

Known as one of the most popular parks during the bathing season, Porto Rei Park is equipped with a walkway, swimming pool, river beach, support facilities, gardens and a picnic area.

Located between the municipalities of Arouca, Cinfães, Resende, Castro Daire and Lamego, the Montemuro Mountain is a true natural habitat. Inserted in the Natura 2000 Network, its trails and routes invite visitors to get to know a little of its beauty.

At an altitude of 145m and with the Douro River and its valleys in the background, the Imaginário Viewpoint is a mandatory stop for those visiting Mesão Frio.

Located in Lugar da Rede and on the banks of the Douro River, this river beach is synonymous with tranquility. Equipped with a cafe, bathrooms and a picnic area, you can take advantage of your visit to practice some water sports.

Between the wolfram mines and the waters of the rivers that run through it, the Marão Mountains are a space characterized by its biodiversity. Covered with trails and routes, it invites its visitors to get to know the region and its landscape.

This region, known for its spa, has existed since the 12th century when D. Mafalda had an inn built. A visit to this region deserves a visit to the pier and a ride on the "Barca d'Aregos", which connects the two banks of the river.

Located just 4km from Resende Village, the Massôrra Farm dedicates its activity to the production of wines and other regional products, including cherries. Boat trips are one of the main attractions of the Quinta Porta Caseira. To make this possible, the Quinta has its own pier and boat giving its visitors the opportunity to book a tour on the river.

The Romanesque Route came to preserve and promote the existing Romanesque heritage in the region of Tâmega and Sousa. In Resende we can find the Monastery of Santa Maria de Cárquere, Church of São Martinho de Mouros, Church of Santa Maria de Barrô and the Panchorra Bridge.

As a place of great scenic and cultural beauty, the municipality of Resende has a vast network of paths and routes that trace the region. These can be used for physical exercise and to discover the city.

Douro River Cruises are one of the most popular tourist activities in the region. There are several existing routes that allow you to enjoy a trip along the Douro River in order to get to know the region, the vineyards and the biodiversity that exists here.

The Eça de Queiroz Foundation is a non-profit institution created with the aim of disseminating and promoting the work of Eça de Queiroz, education and culture. Created by Maria da Graça Salema de Castro in 1988, in this space we can visit a museum, a library and an auditorium.

Classified as a Property of Public Interest, this building is known as a place of inspiration for Eça de Queiroz in the writing process of the novel “A Ilustre Casa de Ramires”. The property can be visited with the permission of the owners.

It is about 50 minutes away from the municipality of Resende that we can find the Convent of Saint Gonçalo, founded in 1540 at the behest of King John III of Portugal. Classified as a National Monument, the 18th century organ, the Balcony of the Kings and the Bell Tower stand out.

Classified as a National Monument and located within a small population, the Monastery of Salzedas takes us back to the 17th and 18th centuries, when it underwent renovations. This building is linked to the Cistercian monks, never having been finished.

Built in the mid-18th century in honor of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, this shrine is located on top of the Monte de Santo Estêvão, in Lamego. Classified as Property of Public Interest, the highlights are the staircase, the tile panels and the main altarpiece in gilded woodcarving.

Started to build during the reign of Afonso Henriques, the Cathedral of Viseu is one of the most famous monuments in the city. Next to the building are the Grão Vasco Museum, the Misericórdia Church and the historic area of the city.

Built during the 18th century, the Clérigos Tower is one of the most emblematic monuments in the city of Porto. From the top of this building, designed by Nicolau Nasoni, we have a panoramic view over the city and the Douro River.

Opened in 1906, the Lello Library is a landmark in the history and architecture of the city of Porto. Known for its beauty, the busts of the most important Portuguese writers stand out.

A National Monument since 1982, the Palácio da Bolsa was built on the ruins of the São Francisco Convent in Porto between 1842 and 1909. Home of the Porto Trade Association, this building is a must-see in the city.

Known for being the only Gothic church and one of the few medieval buildings that the city of Porto preserves, the São Francisco Church started being built in the 14th century. Part of a Franciscan convent, it is distinguished by its gilded carved woodwork.
